Starboard

Acrylic on Canvas.

This was one of my earlier paintings. Most of my early paintings I have since painted over because I no longer loved them or they no longer spoke to me.

This one continues to speak to me. When I worked on this, I piled on the paint and scraped it off and did that process over and over again. I spontaneously added the yellow fluid acrylic, which I scraped around until I discovered a shape I loved.

I call this starboard because I saw an image of a boat and when I was diagnosed with breast cancer, I joined a rowing team, called ROW (Recovery on Water). I rowed starboard and being a part of ROW was my silver lining and then some.
